1933 TO 1945
THEGREENDEVILS
GERMAN PARATROOPER ELITE
First seeing action during the invasion of Denmark
and Norway in April, 1940 - the Green Devils were the
‘fallschirmjaeger’ or paratrooper arm of the Luftwaffe and
were to see extensive service in both air-drop and ground
roles, through to the war’s end in 1945. The first paratrooper
unit was raised in 1935 following the profound impression
made upon the Germans by the early experiments with this
new form of warfare conducted by the Soviets.
THE GREEN DEVILS
GERMAN PARATROOPER ELITE 1933-1941
This program deals with the evolution of the paratrooper arm, and
goes into depth about their important role in the invasion of the
west in 1940. It also offers extensive coverage of the victorious
operation that will remain forever linked with the fallschirmjaeger
‘Operation Merkur’ - the invasion of Crete in 1941.
THE GREEN DEVILS
GERMAN PARATROOPER ELITE 1942-1945
This program shows their operations in North Africa through to
East Prussia and the borders of Germany in 1944-45, as well as
in the theatres of Italy and Normandy. It also includes operations
by paratroopers in the East where they are seen taking on Soviet
T-34s using ‘Panzerschreck’ anti-tank weapons and on the borders
of Germany in the opening months of 1945.
- The programs bundled together at a fraction of their original
separate retail price ($29.90).
- Created from actual World War 2 documentary footage, a more
reliable source that unrealistic dramatic reconstructions.
- Artsmagic has an extensive back catalogue of World War II
documentaries, and this series has been one of its best selling.
- The Green Devils were an important part of WW2, but have been
largely overlooked in historical documentaries, these programs
rectify this mistake.
